A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is a motor controller that drives an electric motor or pump by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the electric motor. Frequency is used to directly control the motor’s speed – the higher the frequency, the faster the motor rotates.

If an application does not require an electric motor to run at full speed, the VFD can be used to reduce the frequency and voltage to meet the requirements of the motor’s load. As the application’s motor speed requirements change, the VFD can simply increase or decrease the motor speed to meet the speed requirement.

Zwickler is currently offering Lenze I510 and I550 VFD Types. Both VFDs are rated for 1HP, 2HP, and 3HP motors that are either single or three-phase mains voltage. The Lenze I550 has an integrated disconnect whereas the I510 does not. Both Drives can handle frequencies between 0-599 Hz. The I510 is rated for a NEMA 1 enclosure and the I550 is rated for a NEMA 4 enclosure.

Zwickler is also offering 2 HP NEMA 4x VFDs.

Important Note: This is a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) used to control DC motors in your brewing system. There are several types of VFDs which may look similar. If you are not completely certain as to what type of VFD you need please contact customer service before ordering or installing the VFD. We are not responsible for damage if you use the wrong VFD!
